This Code of Conduct outlines the expectations for all participants, parents, coaches, officials, and attendees engaging in recreational programs under the Union City Youth Sports application, licensed for use by Union City, NJ. By participating in or attending any event, users agree to adhere to the following standards of behavior.

Preamble
The recreational programs offered by Union City, NJ aim to foster teamwork, discipline, sportsmanship, and respect. Youth sports and recreational activities play a vital role in the physical, social, and emotional development of participants.

It is essential that parents, coaches, officials, and attendees set a positive example by demonstrating fairness, self-control, and mutual respect. Disruptive or inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated and may result in disciplinary action.

Code of Conduct

As a participant, coach, official, parent, or spectator in any Union City, NJ recreation program, I agree to the following:

1. Sportsmanship & Respect

✅ I will show respect to all coaches, parents, players, officials, and spectators.
✅ I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive behavior at all times.
✅ I will promote inclusivity and treat all individuals with dignity, regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or ability.

2. Prohibited Behavior

🚫 I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to:
Yelling, taunting, or verbal abuse directed at coaches, officials, participants, or spectators.
Threatening or aggressive behavior, including physical intimidation or fighting.
Excessive arguing with officials or staff regarding calls, rules, or decisions.
Offensive language, profanity, or gestures in any form.
Harassment or discrimination of any kind.

3. Safety & Well-Being

✅ I will prioritize safety and the well-being of all participants.
✅ I will follow all facility rules and event guidelines to ensure a safe environment.
✅ I will report any concerns about participant safety to event organizers or recreation officials.


🚫 I will not:
Engage in or encourage physical violence, including fights or altercations.
Endanger the health or safety of others through reckless or negligent actions.

4. Substance Use Policy

🚫 I will not:


Use, possess, or be under the influence of drugs or alcohol while attending, coaching, officiating, or participating in any event.
Encourage or permit others to use drugs or alcohol at any recreational event.

5. Enforcement & Disciplinary Actions

If I fail to comply with this Code of Conduct, I understand that I may be subject to disciplinary action, which may include any of the following:


1️⃣ Verbal Warning – Issued by a league, organization, or event official.
2️⃣ Written Warning – Documented notification of misconduct.
3️⃣ Immediate Ejection – Removal from an event or facility.
4️⃣ Suspension from Future Events – A ban from participating or attending for a specified duration.
5️⃣ Season or Multi-Season Suspension – Prohibition from participating in future programs.


Acknowledgment & Agreement


By participating in Union City, NJ recreational programs, I acknowledge that I have read, understood, and agree to comply with this Code of Conduct. Failure to adhere to these standards may result in disciplinary actions as determined by Union City’s Recreation Department officials.

We offer baseball, softball, soccer, basketball, volleyball, and track & field for Union City youth.

How much does it cost to register?

Registration is $75 per child, per season.

How do I register my child?

You can register online or in person at Edison School, Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

What ages can participate?

Programs are open to Union City youth of varying ages. Age groups may differ depending on the sport.

Where do practices and games take place?

Most practices and games are held at Union City schools and local fields. Specific locations are shared once registration is complete.

Do you provide uniforms or equipment?

Basic uniforms are included with registration. Players may need to bring personal equipment depending on the sport.
